This company has built a solar power plant on the roof of its production facility, with an installed power of 500 kW, and through its connection, the prosumer will use the produced electrical energy for its own consumption and deliver the surplus to the electrical energy system, thereby considerably reducing the costs for the taken electrical energy bought in the open market.
In addition to this company, EPS also signed agreements with the household which had filed requests for the signing of agreements on the full supply with net measuring and immediately notified the operator of the distribution system, the PE Elektrodistribucija Srbije, of it.
The next step is to connect the power plant to the electrical energy system, which is the obligation of the operator of the distribution system, within five days of the signing of the agreement. After the connecting, in the next five days, the operator of the distribution system registers the end-buyer in the Register of Prosumers, which thereby acquires that status. So, there is a possibility for someone in Serbia to simultaneously be a buyer and a producer of electrical energy and those who want to become prosumers are able to do so.
According to the leader for energy at Deloitte Belgrade, Zeljko Markovic, investments in solar panels, that is, the production of electrical energy from renewable energy sources, pay off after around ten years, which is around a half of the life cycle of solar panels. Furthermore, a range of positive effects are achieved – one’s own money is saved, as well as energy, and the production of green energy increases, which has a positive impact on environmental protection.
