Another investor has opened a construction site within the industrial zone “Southeast” (“Jugoistok”) – production capacities on a parcel of 9,519 square meters are being built by a local company, Mins Elektro doo from Pancevo. The first works on the construction of internal traffic routes have been carried out and what follows is the infrastructural equipping of the parcel on which the facility – the head office building and the production facility with a warehouse – will be built.

The main focus of the operations of this company, founded in 2007, is the construction and reconstruction of high-voltage and medium-voltage substations, and it also produces various kinds of low-voltage panels for power distribution, low-voltage reactive power compensation cabinets, relay and control panels with substation automation system and automation cabinets.

According to that company, at the future production facilities in Zrenjanin, they plan to triple the production of cabinets, which they currently produce only for their own needs at the facility in Lestane, considering that, due to foreign investors in Serbia, the demand for cabinets meant for industrial facilities has increased.

The cabinets that will be produced in Zrenjanin will be meant primarily for the local market, with the plan to later also export them to other markets in the region and abroad.

The investment will be realized in phases, through the construction of three production halls, with the project realization deadline by mid-2026, as displayed on the info panel at the construction site, reported the website of the City of Zrenjanin,

The first part of the industrial zone “Southeast”, equipped with infrastructure in 2010 with EU funds in the amount of EUR 4 million, the City of Zrenjanin funds of EUR 2.2 million and the National Investment Plan funds of EUR 500,000 on an area of 72 hectares, is largely occupied by investors.

The first to raise its production hall in that area was the Zrenjanin company Alpin in 2008, and today there are 30 investors that have built facilities or bought land in the zone so far. The zone was expanded to 550 hectares in 2018 through planning documents, which, at the moment, is an area meant for investments in a single location the kind of which no local self-government aside from Zrenjanin can offer.

Based on a survey carried out by FDI Intelligence, the world’s biggest center for assessing foreign direct investments, the industrial zone “Southeast” placed 48th on the list of the best zones for investments in the world in 2012. The results were published in the Financial Times, and 600 zones from over 120 countries took part in the survey.
