Locally made fire engines were produced for the first time at the companies Zastava Tervo from Kragujevac and FAP from Priboj. The minister of internal affairs of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, stated on the occasion of the presentation of three prototypes of locally produced fire engines at the newly opened fire station in New Belgrade, that it proved that Serbia could make vehicles that kept up with world trends.

He added that there would be another two prototypes, produced by those Serbian companies, by August, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Announcing new investments in the Sector for States of Emergency, he estimated that those locally made vehicles, with all the other investments, would contribute to a quick and efficient response to all states of emergency in both urban and hard-to-reach areas.

The acting assistant minister and the head of the Sector for States of Emergency, Luka Causic, said that the members of the sector had been present on a daily basis at FAP and Zastava Tervo, where they had contributed with their expert advice to the production of the first Serbian fire engines.

The Sector for States of Emergency now has at its disposal the vehicles produced by FAP, namely, water-foam fire engines for extinguishing fires in urban environments, equipped with a tank for 5,000 liters of water and 200 liters of foam, as well as a medium- and high- pressure pump.

Firefighters will also use vehicles produced by Zastava Tervo, a small fire engine for extinguishing fires in residential facilities in narrow streets, with a tank of 1,500 liters and a medium- and high-pressure pump.

A fire engine specialized for extinguishing fires in open spaces and hard-to-reach terrains, will also be used. It has a modular pump and a module featuring a tank for 1,000 liters of water, 20 liters of foam, a high-pressure piston pump and a medium-pressure external pump.

By the end of July, FAP will also deliver a fire cistern vehicle with a tank for 7,000 liters of water and 300 liters of foam, and Zastava Tervo will deliver a freight fire-rescue vehicle with a stable pump for extinguishing fires in open areas for the needs of the Sector for States of Emergency.
