Plandiste fights underdevelopment - Industrial zone, business incubator and center for kids and youth

Although it belongs to the group of the most underdeveloped local self-governments in Vojvodina, with a modest annual budget of only 2 million euros, the municipality of Plandiste is currently working on three projects.

At recently held investment fair Investexpo in Novi Sad, Plandiste's representatives told eKapija that their municipality offered investors a chance for several "brownfield" investments, which would revive numerous deserted factories.

Cross-border cooperation in SME development

However, what is in the focus of their attention is the cross-border cooperation with Romanian municipality of Deta. That cooperation is financed with the money from the IPA funds, and it is a part of the "Support to Development of Small and Mid-sized Enterprises in Municipalities of Plandiste and Deta" project.

- As far as our municipality is concerned, the accent is placed on textile, since we used to be famous for Plantex industry that had about 1,200 workers, and on agricultural production – Rodika Grujesku from Plandiste said for our portal.

The project envisages formation of a small development incubator where new small enterprises will be able to start their businesses. The incubator will provide logistic support to SME by offering them the services from the contemporary system of preparation and tailoring, marketing and promo activities. Similar support will also be provided to small agricultural farms through education, standardization and promotion of their activities.

Regulation of industrial zone

The officials of this Banat's municipality are also working on regulation of the industrial zone. That zone occupies the surface of 26 ha and it is intended for the construction of industrial facilities. The regulation project envisages construction of water supply system, gas pipeline, low-voltage electric grid, substations and junctions.

Friendship center for kids and youth

Grujesku also told eKapija that the second phase of construction of the European Friendship Center for Kids and Youth was underway.

That project is conceived as a summer camp that will actively involve young people in various educational, informative and entertaining contents. The municipality of Plandiste implements the project in association with the Government of Czech Republic, the Government of Slovakia, the Regional Agency for Economic Development of Sumadija and Pomoravlje.

The center in Hajducica will comprise beds for about 80 kids and young people, dining room, kitchen and infirmary. It is situated in the vicinity of the castle of Olga Dundjerski.
