High technology in Ruma - British Elekta to hire 100 workers for production of robotized appliances
Industrial zone in Ruma will soon get a new tenant. As eKapija learns, British Elekta, which operates in the sphere of high technology, has reserved 5 ha of land in that zone.
About 100 people will be hired for the production of robotized appliances, which are primarily in use in medicine.
- Employment of electrical and mechanical workers, including a large number of engineers, is an exceptional news for us as a step toward reduction of the number of unemployed people in Ruma, which currently amounts to about 5,000 – Mayor Goran Vukovic says for our portal.
The municipality of Ruma has got the industrial zone ready and presented it to potential investors at recently held Investexpo investment fair in Novi Sad.
The zone occupies 238 ha at the intersection of Belgrade-Zagreb motorway and future Novi Sad-Sabac motorway. In the opinion of the local authorities, the location is very attractive owing to the transport links, the proximity of railway and the Sava river as a navigable waterway.
According to Vukovic, the surface of the lots that await investors ranges from minimum 1.6 ha and the width of 63 meters (which is wide enough even for the largest trucks) to 50 ha, but it is also pointed out that they are willing to negotiate on any form or land readjustment.
The Mayor of Ruma says for eKapija that, in addition to British Elekta, there are many other interested companies with which the negotiations are still underway, while several "letter of intents" have already been signed.
- Some Turkish companies have also expressed interest, as well as certain travel agencies. We are not limited to only one sector of economy in which a potential investor should be engaged. The only thing that is important to us is that it uses "pure" technology and that it does not endanger the security and health of others – says Vukovic.
Other bigger companies that operate in Ruma are Rumaguma and privatized tanning company Mitas. As Vukovic points out, people in that municipality can be satisfied with the current economic situation since they have successfully passed through the privatization processes.
