In the video material uploaded to YouTube and provided by the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, it is said that Serbia currently has 14 Lasta 95 aircraft, and part of the fleet will be upgraded by adding systems for the use of weapons to the aircraft.
Lasta is a training aircraft, but as such has options for various upgrades. This locally produced plane has a digitized cabin, and the announced further improvement should equip it with weapon management systems and weapons mounted on two external locations, and the weight will be 120 kg on one external location.
In addition to weapons, Last is getting a new turboprop engine, which will be considerably stronger than the old one at 450 horsepower. The new engine is stronger and lighter than the old one, so the plane will become much faster. The look of the plane will not change considerably.
The new Lasta will be able to use guided weapons, and one of the new features will be an ejection seat.
Said modifications to the engine are carried out by the Military-Technical Institute and Utva in cooperation with Jugoimport, and the project, as said in the video, has already progressed far.
