The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia promulgated yesterday, at a special session, amendments to the Constitution of Serbia in the field of justice, which the citizens supported in a referendum held on January 16, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

The Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and the Constitutional Law on the Implementation of the Act amending the Constitution of Serbia were promulgated.

The amendments to the Constitution were solemnly proclaimed with the intonation of the anthem "God of Justice", and the Guard was placed in front of the House of the National Assembly.

The president of the National Assembly, Ivica Dacic, reminded that the body had adopted the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia by a two-thirds majority vote and adopted the decision on the organization of the referendum for the purpose of confirming the act.

Dacic explained that it had been proscribed for the Act to come into effect upon promulgation by the National Assembly and said that, at the referendum, 1,189,460 voted “yes”, comprising the majority of those who voted, and that the act was therefore considered adopted, the government announced on its website.
