EBRD considers investing 100 million euros in Lafarge holding

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering providing an equity investment of up to €100 million to Lafarge Aggregates, the creditor announced.

Lafarge Aggregates Eastern Europe is a regional holding vehicle to be created by Lafarge SA to hold the existing quarry and distribution operations in Ukraine and pursue further developments in Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Belarus and other selected EBRD countries of operations.

Total cost of the project of the Lafarge regional holding is €300 million, and the EBRD will make the decision on the investment totaling €100 million in mid-December.

This dedicated vehicle co-owned solely by the EBRD and majority owner Lafarge SA will be acquiring other operating aggregate quarries and concrete operations as well as developing new greenfield aggregate and concrete operations.


In Serbia, Lafarge group is the owner of Beocin Cement Factory (BCF) since 2002. Lafarge BCF is the leader in the cement production in Serbia with the production capacity of over 1.2 million tons.

Lafarge is the world's leading manufacturer of building materials and it operates in 78 countries. The company's last year's sales revenue amounted to €15.9 billion.
