The Danube Park, the oldest park in Novi Sad, will be fully reconstructed and soon get new paths, fence, lighting, benches, fountain and children’s playground.

This is confirmed by the PUE Gradkso Zelenilo, and the company points out that the works on development, worth RSD 121,288,833.25, are to begin in the first half of February.

According to Jelena Prica, assistant director for commercial affairs and tourism, all the paths and access roads, which cover an area of 6,209 m2, will be reconstructed, whereas, in the location of the existing children’s playground, a new, bigger and more modern one will be built, with five new devices, as well as a new fountain and 250 meters of a fence around that part of the park.

– The Danube Park, located in the heart of the city, has been a green oasis on nearly six hectares for rest, relaxation and recreation of the people of Novi Sad for 127 years now. Since 1895, it has been a vital connection of the residents of the Novi Sad center, but also other city quarters, with the nature. This year, all the features will be reconstructed in detail, so as to bring the park even closer to the citizens and have it better meet their needs. The park is an integral part of the old Dunavska Street and the old part of the city and makes up a unit in the sense of pedestrian flows and the selection of materials and street furniture. The total area is close to 5.58 hectares. The project documentation for the park was prepared by Dr Ratibor Djordjevic in 1958, as a remarkable place for a quiet rest and children’s play – says Prica.
