Due to the increased consumption of electrical energy, and considering the insufficient production from thermal capacities as a result of the insufficient quantities and caloric value of the coal, the state will secure an additional import of electrical energy, it was said at yesterday’s session of the Working Group for Monitoring the Security of Energy and Energy Supply.

The latest data on the state of the electrical energy system in Serbia, the necessary quantities of energy and energy sources for households and the economy and the plans for the next period were presented at the session.

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) said that the consumption of electrical energy had increased compared to January 2021, primarily due to the low temperatures.

According to Elektrodistribucija Srbije (EDS), the distribution system is stable, and shorter power cuts are a consequence of the planned works, which, as said, are meant to prevent malfunctions. The transfer system also functions without major problems.

At the session, it was determined that the consumption of natural gas was at a record level, due to which additional quantities are being imported from both directions, but it was said that the supply was not jeopardized. The delivery of heating energy to the users of central heating in Serbia is stable, according to the website of the Ministry of Energy.
