That a German investor, much more solid than Geox, is arriving to Vranje after the Italian factory closed down and the workers were laid off and that it would employ around 1,000 workers over the course of a year was announced by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, in late 2021, without disclosing the details about which company it is or what it does.
With only ten days left until February, there are still no official details about it, and billboards from which Haix, a German company which produces military, police and fire-fighting footwear, is now inviting the people of Vranje to “become part of the family” and join their production team in Bunusevac, have sprung up in Vranje.
Along with the invitation, the billboards feature the address for the application and the company name “Haix oprema d.o.o. Bunusevac bb”, but the jobs that the people of Vranje might apply for are not listed, and, according to the findings of the local media, for the time being, all job positions in tailoring, preparation and sewing are open.
According to the data available on the official website of Haix, the company was founded in 1948 in the Bavarian city of Mainburg. It currently has over 1,700 workers.
In the region, it only operates in Croatia, in Mala Subotica, since 2009, where around 1,300 workers are employed.
