Reconstruction of Sava Centar Begins – Works to Take Around Two Years

A thorough reconstruction of the congress center “Sava Centar” in Belgrade officially began today. The estimate is that the works will take around two years, that is, that the fully renovated Sava Centar would welcome its first guests in late 2023 or early 2024.

Since 2020, Sava Centar has been part of Delta Holding, which made the best bid at the public tender of the City of Belgrade.

– We will realize the full reconstruction, while preserving the exterior and all the characteristics which are protected by decisions of the competent institutions – says Katarina Gajic, Director of Design and Construction at Delta Real Estate, and adds:

– We will replace the installations, the equipment, the glass façade, implement entirely new multimedia features and communications features. The estimate is that this intervention will require at least EUR 60 million, which we will secure through project financing, in cooperation with banks. Around 1,000 workers will be employed at the construction site during the works.

According to the obligation that the new owner took upon itself with the purchase, Sava Centar will retain it purpose and its look, the press release says.

– The renovated Sava Centar will have modern and attractive spaces for networking, smaller halls for corporate gatherings and parallel sessions during big congresses. The plan includes a business zone, as well as a shopping zone with additional features. The reconstructed center will be an energy efficient building in line with the most modern standards of security and sustainability – says Kristina Mirosavljevic, the director of Sava Centar.

– The aim is for Belgrade to have a modern, globally recognized congress center which is the best in the region, as Sava Centar has been since it was founded – she pointed out.

The reconstruction of the biggest congress center in the region is entrusted to local companies. The main contractor will be the company Jadran, the contractor is Armont, the supervision is entrusted to Zoling, and the designer is Centroprojekt.
