“Polish Climate Support” is a program which was launched this November by the Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, with the aim of having its effects be visible not just in Poland, but far beyond it too.
This country has been working on an energy transformation for 30 years now, whereby great experience has been acquired not just by the public administration, but by entrepreneurs as well. They have designed innovative and creative ways of development of Poland toward a green economy, and they see the excellent understanding of the complexity of the reality that surrounds us as a capital. They also want to use their invaluable experience outside the borders of their country, which is why they’ve decided to support foreign activities with a subsidy of up to 100% of the investment costs.
This program is a result of many years of experience and it opens a new stage of activities – the phase of support to the subjects whose road to a green growth is similar to that taken by Poland.
“Polish Climate Support” is directed at countries in the region, including Serbia. The first invitation for the submission of project drafts opened on November 29, 2021, and closes on February 2, 2022.
The project entails cooperation between Polish entrepreneurs, local self-government units, non-governmental organizations, consortiums, and partners from Serbia – non-profit organizations, national or local authorities, science, research or education units.
Projects can be realized in at least one of the following thematic fields:
– the shaping of a national, regional and local climate policy;
– the improvement of air quality;
– the upgrade of energy efficiency in construction;
– the development of transport with zero and low emissions and
– the transformation of coal-dependent regions.
Polish subjects may apply for financial support for the realization of one of the three kinds of projects: investment, consulting, or mixed projects. They will be able to get up to PLN 2 million (EUR 500,000) for investment and mixed projects and up to PLN 1 million (EUR 250,000) for consulting projects. The total budget is PLN 45 million (EUR 11.25 million).
The recruiting for the program will take place in two phases. After the draft project is presented, the authors of the most interesting drafts will be invited to submit applications for financing. The program will be realized in the 2021-2024 period, and the signing of the agreements is planned for the second half of 2022.
It is important to emphasize that “Polish Climate Support” does not focus exclusively on directions of energy transformation, but also on people, that is, on the true needs of local communities. That is why special attention will be paid to projects which meet the actual needs.
The Embassy of Poland in Belgrade can be contacted by those interested in finding a Polish partner for the proposed project.
– The countries of the Western Balkans have obliged to implement some of the legal obligations of the EU in the field of climate policy, and during last year’s summit in Sofia, they promised to cooperate with the EU on achieving the goal of Europe as a CO2-neutral continent by 2050. We understand the scope of these challenges and we are convinced that “Polish Climate Support” will become one of the instruments for achieving these ambitious goals – pointed out Artur Lorkowski, Vice-President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
