The usage of air currents and wind energy pollutes the environment the least, while producing considerable amounts of electrical energy, as shown by examples of wind farms in many countries of the European Union. Although our country has practically only just started using wind power, a representative example of the excellent practice of the production of electrical energy from wind power in Serbia is the first wind farm in Kula, and three wind farms in Vojvodina cover the needs of 51,000 households. Due to the feasibility of one such investment, the construction of another three wind farms by MK Fintel Wind is planned in Kula, and the Municipality of Kula says that the construction of solar panels of another investor from Australia, which has already sent a letter of intent, is being prepared as well.

Favorable winds, kosava and the north wind, justify the investment in the first wind farm built in Kula, and this project is considered to be an icebreaker when it comes to the use of renewable energy sources in Serbia. In order to produce enough electrical energy, wind generators have to have constant winds, which has proven to be ideal in this location, for which reason, another three are to be built.

– So far, our company has a total of three wind farms in Vojvodina, which altogether cover the needs of 51,000 households. Another three are planned to be built here in Kula, namely, Kula2, Kula3 and Kula4. Also, the companies MK Group and Fintel Energija plan a unique project in this part of Europe – Agro Solar, and implementation of solar panels with a certain agri-technical protection, beneath which certain plant cultures will be grown without the use of pesticides – said Luka Adzic, the manager of the wind farm MK Fintel Wind.

From the economic aspect, investments in such projects bring various benefits, and new investments in renewable energy sources have been announced as well.

– The plan is to build another three wind generators and a large solar power plant is to be built there. It is a private investment on private parcels, and the municipality of Kula is a partner which develops that place in terms of urban planning. There is also a letter of intent that arrived to our municipality several days ago, which is an initiative of an Australian company which produces solar panels. We will have direct benefit from it – said Damjan Miljanic, the president of the municipality of Kula.

– In Serbia, that potential is not negligible at all and we even have around 15% of the total installed capacities from RES. One of the first wind farms is located in the West Backa District. It was made in the municipality of Kula by an Italian company and a local company and it was an investment worth EUR 15 million, which shows how important it is to use such potentials – said Zoran Bulatovic, the director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Sombor.

The importance of such investments is shown by the fact that only three wind generators in Kula produce enough electrical energy for 7,000 households.
