City of Belgrade writes off interest on property tax, utility taxes and fee for use of building land

The Assembly of Belgrade adopted the decision yesterday on the write-off of the interest on taxes and fees charged by the local self-government.

The interest is written off for the property tax of companies and citizens, the utility taxes and the fee for use of building land.

Such decision was explained with the intention for enabling tax debtors to settle their obligations under more favorable terms and keep paying them on regular basis in the future.

At that meeting, the Belgrade Assembly also made the decision on the allotment of incentives for the construction industry at the time of the economic crisis.

According to that decision, the City of Belgrade accepts the obligation to repay the debt for the projects stimulating the construction industry.

For that purpose, the City of Belgrade will provide 10% of total value of the projects for 2010 and 2011 from the city budget, and it will also be obliged to repay the debt in amount of 40% of total value of 10 projects in the city.

Total value of these 10 projects in Belgrade is 4 billion dinars.

Among these projects are: the refurbishment and adaptation of Jelena Cetkovic Primary School, the Fourth Belgrade Grammar School and the First School of Economics, the construction of a bridge across the Sava in Obrenovac, Mirijevo Boulevard, residential and business facilities west of Ivana Ribara Street in New Belgrade, and a sewage station in Surcin.
