Belgrade to Start Measuring Radioactivity – Testing to Encompass Food at Markets, Drinking Water, Land, Air…

The Secretariat for Environmental Protection of the City of Belgrade has opened the tender for the realization of the program of systemic testing of the level of radioactivity in the living environment in the territory of the capital of Serbia.

According to the technical specification of the tender, the monitoring of the living environment encompasses control of air quality, control of the quality of surface waters, control of the quality of ground waters, measuring noise levels, testing land pollution, testing the level of radioactivity and measuring ultraviolet radiation.

The sampling and analysis pertain to air, precipitation, river water, drinking water, land, animal feed and food for people.


According to the program, milk, as well as drinking water and air, will be sampled on a daily basis, whereas the level of radioactivity in milk and drinking water will be measured on a monthly basis, and in air four times a month.

Dairy products, meat, grains, fruit and vegetables, children’s meals, as well as animal feed, will be sampled and measured twice a year.

The tender expires on November 29.
