Knauf Insulation to Invest EUR 19 Million in Factory in Surdulica – New Chimney to be Built and Capacities for Recycling of Waste Wool to Increase

Since 2005, when Knauf Insulation came to Serbia and bought the factory of mineral wool in Surdulica, over EUR 35 million has been invested in increasing the factory’s capacities, modernization and installation of new equipment, recycling capacities, installation of modern facilities for the preservation of the quality of air, water and land.

Within the investment cycle which is to take place by the end of this year and the beginning of next one, another EUR 19 million will be invested, which, along with the previous investments, will make for over EUR 50 million in investments in Surdulica. The majority of these new investments is to be made in facilities for additional environmental protection.

– We are continuously investing in this field, following the trends and the demands that our company sets on a global level in the sense of sustainable business operations, of course, all in line with the laws of the Republic of Serbia. We are currently building a taller and more modern chimney, we are making a system for the filtering of the rainwater that passes through the factory complex, we are increasing the capacity for the recycling of waste wool, we are increasing the energy efficiency of the facilities within the factory and building a modern parking lot for trucks inside the factory complex – Branislav Popovic, the director of the factory in Surdulica, says for eKapija.

An upgrade of the production equipment and packaging is also planned.

– This pertains to a replacement of parts of the equipment with more modern and more technologically developed solutions, whereby our mineral wool will get an additional quality, whereas the product packaging will be more durable and adapted to the needs of our clients – Popovic pointed out.
