Road Toll for Freight Trucks on Ibar Main Road Soon

The acting director of the PE Roads of Serbia, Zoran Drobnjak, announced today that road toll would be implemented for heavy trucks – freight trucks with a load-bearing capacity of 40 tons – on the Ibar Main Road not long after.

Drobnjak said on TV K1 that, primarily for the purpose of traffic safety, heavy trucks needed to be redirected to the highway instead of using the Ibar Main Road so as not to pay the road toll.

– We will soon “close” the Ibar Main Road for those trucks, primarily for safety, and the price for them will be the same on the Ibar Main Road and on the highway – Drobnjak said.

This year, the number of vehicles on highways in Serbia increased 10% compared to 2019, Drobnjak said and added that this was because of the construction of highways in the country and the fact that everyone who travels to Greece and Turkey now goes through Serbia.

– Everyone is going through Serbia now, instead of Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, because that route is longer by 250 to 300 kilometers – Drobnjak said.
