The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, has announced that the Clinical Center in Belgrade will be connected by an underground passage and escalator with the future subway station Mostar.

He said that one of the requests was for the subway to pass beneath the Clinical Center, but “nowhere in the world do subway lines go beneath hospitals”.

– The subway station Mostar is literally 400 meters away from the Clinical Center and the plan is for an underground passage to go from the yard of the Clinical Center, where the escalator would lead directly to the Mostar station, which is practically like having a subway station – Vesic said.

He also added that the Prokop Railway Station would be encompassed by the third line of the Belgrade Subway.

– The first subway line (Makisko Polje – Mirijevo) is fully defined, except that a citizens’ association has proposed a deviation toward Labudovo Brdo and Cerak, which became part of the plan – Vesic told the journalists at the Old Palace.

He said that the deviation would be done at a later period and that subway systems were constantly developed in all cities that have them.

When it comes to the second line, Vesic said that he hadn’t seen any major complaints.
