However, the most recent in the range of examples of increasing the efficiency and savings on infrastructure projects by using the PlanRadar app is also one of the most attractive and demanding projects in the region – the construction of the Peljesac Bridge.
Harmonization of a large number of subcontractors and a quicker exchange of information
In late July, the Peljesac Bridge drew public attention when the final, 165th element was raised and built in, whereby the connecting of the bridge was completed. The bridge is expected to become available to traffic next spring. Raised on soft ground, this 2.4-km bridge had waited for the realization for a long time, but after the project was awarded to the Chinese corporation CBRC in mid-2018, there was the question of the possibility of the realization of this project within the planned deadline of only 36 months. With the use of the most modern technologies, including the PlanRadar app, the deadline was honored, and the finalization of the whole access to the bridge with the surrounding traffic routes is expected in the upcoming period.
– In addition to the implementation in construction projects, the PlanRadar app is equally as useful on infrastructure and linear projects, which is proven by the use of this app on the construction of the Peljesac Bridge. What is extremely important in this case is the fact that PlanRadar was accepted and implemented by all the participants in this project – the investor, the expert supervisors and the contractor – stated Bojan Petkovic, Country Manager for Southeast Europe at PlanRadar.
Monitoring and solving the problems in the process of the construction of the Peljesac Bridge is one of the most important examples of the implementation of the PlanRadar app in practice. Unlike the earlier procedure of reporting and correcting the flaws, such as assembly mistakes, structural damage or the appearance of cracks in building a tunnel in a written form with the preparation of the accompanying drafts, with the help of PlanRadar, such problems are now registered and distributed electronically, with a precise description of the problem, its simple locating, documentation with the help of photographs and the monitoring of the process of the solving of the problem with the help of adequate forms, which helps avoid delays, ensures that the deadlines are honored and allows for savings to be made.
– As the biggest benefit from the implementation of the PlanRadar app in this project, I would highlight a quicker exchange of information – emphasized Fran Boskovic, a representative of the expert supervision of the IGH Institute. – Information is distributed immediately, after the text and the photographs are entered, and the process of searching for defects is also accelerated thanks to the database which is integrated into the app – Boskovic added.
Multiple benefits from digitalization in construction industry
The construction industry worldwide, unfortunately, lags behind other industries when it comes to the implementation of digital tools. Bojan Petkovic of PlanRadar explains:
– The reason for a slower implementation of digital tools in the construction industry is partly down to the fear of change and the apprehension that digital solutions require fundamental changes of the current way of doing business. However, as the example of the Peljesac Bridge also shows, we have shown that PlanRadar does not only serve to change the usual operating processes defined by contracts, but to enable all participants to optimize them and reduce the time needed for administrative activities and making reports.
Through process digitalization, the PlanRadar app reduces the frequency of errors, saves time for all parties involved and enables a considerable growth of efficiency – app users record time savings of up to seven work hours per week. Whether it’s 2D plans or BIM models, Plan Radar enables a simple storage, update and exchange of information. Along with the previous versions of the draft, in one place, in the PlanRadar app, users can search for all the detected errors or flaws, the corrections made, or enter new comments on the state of the construction project. This makes for a simpler communication between and within various teams, shortens the reporting process and enables cost optimization and easier decision-making. Based on the cloud technology, PlanRadar practically allows one to eschew paper plans and enables the full digitalization of the communication and exchange of information on construction, infrastructure and real estate management projects.
