Another bond between Serbia and Republic of Srpska - New bridge opened on the Sava near Sremska Raca
Serbian President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik opened a new bridge on the Sava yesterday, near Sremska Raca. The opening ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister of AP Vojvodina Dr. Bojan Pajtic and Minister of Transportation and Communications of the Republic of Srpska Nedeljko Cubrilovic.
The bridge near Sremska Raca was built next to the old road-railway bridge. Its opening for traffic will separate road lanes from rails. Every day, average of 1,000 passenger and 300 freight vehicles used to cross the old bridge. Construction of the new bridge was financed with the funds of the Capital Investment Fund of the Government of AP Vojvodina.
- The Provincial Government invested RSD 675m in this bridge through its Capital Investment Fund and had this junction 400 meters long and 11 meters wide built according to the highest European standards. This bridge will connect Srem with Semberija, Vojvodina and Serbia with the Republic of Srpska, and that is why its economic and infrastructure and national importance is - priceless - said Pajtic.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik said that the bridge was another project successfully implemented in the efforts put together into improvement of the standard and communication between the people on both sides of the Sava river and stated that those who worked should be trusted, and not those who only talked. Dodik expressed gratitude to the Government of Vojvodina and the Republic of Serbia "for deciding to complete this bridge after a decades-long break" and added that the Government of the Republic of Srpska had invested EUR 1m in the access roads to the bridge.
