Zlatibor Not to be Air Spa Exclusively Anymore? – First Geothermal Borehole Announced

Tourist visit to Zlatibor breaks records every year. In addition to investing in accommodation capacities and features, this year, the Municipality of Cajetina started dealing with investment in utility infrastructure and water supply more intensively in order to ensure the full functionality of this popular tourist settlement.

In addition to the construction of a new pipeline, reservoir and water supply system, the plan is to use the rich resources of geothermal springs in Zlatibor in the upcoming period, so the works on the first borehole are expected soon.

– It is well known that Zlatibor lies on a lake of geothermal waters with a large number of springs and it is likely that, next year, we will establish at least one exploratory geothermal borehole – stated the president of the Municipality of Cajetina, Milan Stamatovic, for the municipal bulletin titled “Zlatiborske vesti”.

The activation of the geothermal potentials would create the possibility of finding a new source of energy at the popular mountain tourist resort, but the possibility of this water potential’s hiding medicinal properties is not excluded either. This would largely facilitate the efforts to include Zlatibor into the system of international medicinal spa, which is envisaged in the amendments to the General Regulation Plan of the Municipality of Cajetina, adopted in March 2021.
