The first phase of the first line of the future Belgrade Subway, whose construction, according to the announcements, should start by the end of the year, covers the route from the Zeleznik station to the Karaburma stations. A contest has opened for the designing of the 16 stations on this section, and the PUE Beogradski metro i voz and the Secretariat for Public Transport of the City of Belgrade have also published the functional and architectural project of the future look of the stations within the contest documentation.

As envisaged in the plan of the development of rail systems in Belgrade, two surface stations and 14 underground ones are planned within the first phase of the first line.

The surface stations and Zeleznik and Makis, and the underground ones are Zarkovo, Bele vode, Trgovacka Street, Pozeska Street, Park Banovo brdo, Ada Ciganlija, Belgrade Fairgrounds, Mostar, Sava Square, Republic Square, Skadarlija, Danube, Pancevo Bridge and Karaburma.

Within the station designing contest, the jury will evaluate the works based on the achieved esthetic level, the architectural design in the sense of the branding of the Belgrade Subway, the urban qualities of the design, the choice of the materials, the feasibility etc.


The works may be submitted by December 14, and the results will be published on December 29.

The entire Line 1 on the Makis-Mirijevo route is planned to be around 21.1 km long, with a total of 21 stations.

In line with the technical solutions, the route is planned on the ground in the section from the Zeleznik station to the Makis station, which is 2.1 km long. The part of the route from Makis to the Bele vode station is planned as a cut&cover structure, around 2.15 km long. A section of around 11.2 km from Bele vode to the Pancevo Bridge station is planned in a deep tunnel, whereas the section from the Pancevo Bridge to Mirijevo is planned as a cut&cover structure of around 5.7 km.
