The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Nis has opened the procurement of works on the conservation, rehabilitation and restoration of the medieval fortification of Kurvingrad (Koprijan) in the village of Malosiste near Doljevac.

According to the project documentation, the aim is for this extremely important cultural good from the 14th century to be kept from dilapidation and to be presented to tourists, considering that it is currently visited by tourists very rarely, while being much more frequently visited by illegal diggers, who contribute to the fortress’s further dilapidation.

What’s necessary is the stabilization in terms of statics and the restoration of the missing wall structures of the towers, which are a consequence of the mechanical disintegration of the lower zones above the foundations.

The tender is open until October 14.

The fortification, according to the inscription found on the beam above the entrance, originates in 1372. The fortified town was raised by Nenad, son of Kaznac Bogdan, during the reign of Prince Lazar.
