This tourist season, the chargers for electric cars on Corridor 10 were working "at full steam". Free charging attracts foreigners, as they say in the PE Roads of Serbia. A new call has been issued to supply the complete route of the corridor with chargers, so that even more electric cars are expected next year without waiting at the stations.

About 4,000 electric and hybrid vehicles are currently used in our country, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection. Although such vehicles have been on the market and in use for a long time, it is expected that their production and use will experience a true expansion in the future. Roads of Serbia were the first to install chargers on the corridors.

Jelena Puzovic, the head of toll collection at the PE Roads of Serbia, says that eight electric chargers have been installed so far, three of which are ultra-fast with a capacity of over 175 kilowatts.

They were placed at the toll station Belgrade and at the toll station Nis, one in the direction of Nis, and the other one in the direction of Belgrade.

- The other five were installed at the toll stations Subotica, Sid, Dimitrovgrad, Presevo and the rest area in Boljkovac, located on the section of the Belgrade-Cacak highway near the toll station Ljig - says Puzovic.

Electric cars can be recharged at certain gas stations, but in some locations it is subject to costs, whereas in other places it is free of charge. The goal of PE Roads of Serbia is to expand the free network of chargers.

- In the upcoming period, we plan to install ten more chargers along the level A roads- states Puzovic.

Chargers are also available in Croatia, Slovenia and other countries, but for now the drivers have to pay for the electricity they fill up or spend a certain amount on drinks and food at the gas station. Some car manufacturers install chargers in service stations and charging is free of costs in such cases.
