Government of Serbia Adopts Strategy of Development of Information Society Until 2026

The minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, has announced that the Government of Serbia has adopted the Strategy of Development of the Information Society and Information Security at the proposition of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and determined the vision of the development of the information society in the Republic of Serbia until 2026 by defining the key measures and activities.

– Serbia recognizes the importance of digitization and information security, as shown by the impressive results in this field. The strategy encompasses two important fields, information society and information safety, whose further development is a pre-requirement for the full digitization of the society – Matic said, as announced in the press release of the ministry.

She added that the adoption and the implementation of a strategic document in the field of development of the information society and information safety was important so that the further upgrade of digital knowledge and skills of all citizens, the raising of the capacities of the employees in the public and private sectors for the use of new technologies, as well as the upgrade of the digital infrastructure in the education institutions, could continue. In addition to that, it is also necessary to continue and intensify the activities toward the digitization of the services and operations in the public and private sectors, and it is also very important to upgrade the information safety, primarily through developing the capacities of the competent institutions, by raising the citizens’ awareness, by inciting public-private partnerships and by improving the regional and international cooperation.

The Strategy of Development of the Information Society and Information Safety for 2021-2026, with the Action Plan which defines activities until 2023 in detail, was adopted by the Government of Serbia at the session held on August 26, 2021.
