The entire Danube Main Road will be reconstructed by the end of June 2022, as announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who visited the works on the reconstruction of the Golubac-Donji Milanovac road, which is 55.5 kilometers long.

Vucic pointed out that the goal was for the entire road from Golubac, through Veliko Gradiste, Donji Milanovac, to Kladovo, to be entirely new and repeated that roads in Serbia, especially in eastern Serbia, had not been reconstructed in 50 years. He announced that the Donji-Milanovac-Kladovo road would be completed by the end of the year.

– What remains to connect then are 35 kilometers, by June, and then we will have a fantastic Danube Main Road. Then we should provide other infrastructure and features, a marina, a wharf, a cycling lane – he said and added that there was an idea, which is supposed to contribute a lot to tourism, to build a glass bridge at the Danube’s narrowest spot, in Kazan, at an altitude of 310 meters, which would connect the Serbian and Roman coasts – Vucic said.

He pointed out that the Ram Fortress was a wonderful place, that the Danube was the widest not far from there, that the Ram Fortress had been reconstructed, along with the Golubac Fortress, and that there were also works on the Fetislam Fortress.

– With all that, there will be a new road now. It’s difficult to find a more beautiful part of Serbia. I often come over here, as we can do a lot – Vucic said and added that the reconstruction of roads in Serbia’s east cost a total of around EUR 45 million, as announced on the official website of the president of Serbia.

– We are doing a lot, we are creating. This is a pearl of Europe, not just Serbia. Everyone who comes here can see so for themselves – Vucic said and added that a boat line between Belgrade and Kladovo might be reinstated in 2022, for which the state is ready to set aside subsidies. He also announced that, not long after, in late September or early October, the Timok mine would open near Bor.

Vucic also visited the Tumane Monastery and pointed out that it was the obligation of state representatives to secure better roads, to develop utility infrastructure and thereby facilitate the arrival of people from all corners of Serbia, but also from Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska, to that monastery.
