Company Planet Bike to Build New Production Facility in Krusevac – New Shimano Center on Over 4,000 m2, Robots for Production of Bicycles and Jobs for 60 Workers

The company Planet Bike plans to build a new, modern production facility in Bivolje near Krusevac, where state-of-the-art technology of bicycle manufacture will be implemented, involving the use of robots in the production of certain components.

The director of the company, Lazar Cvoro, says for eKapija that the new production hall is one of the most important investments, within which, in addition to the auxiliary facilities, there will also be office spaces, as well as a new Shimano center.

– The new production complex complements the existing one and fits into it. The most important facility will be the new production hall. The auxiliary facilities are – a new secondary raw material warehouse, a rack warehouse of finished products, an office building and the Shimano center. The total investment is planned in the amount of up to EUR 3 million, but the disturbances in the market of construction materials, especially when it comes to the price of steel, will increase the amount – says Lazar Cvoro.

What’s new when it comes to Planet Bike is the construction of the Shimano center, whose purpose is to distribute the products made at their production facilities in Serbia and the region.

– The Shimano center is a facility for the distribution of the Shimano program in Serbia and the region. It is a store with technical support, without technological operations. We are making a modern facility in line with our plans for increasing the scope of our operations – Cvoro adds for eKapija.

In addition to the new technical-technological center, the production hall will feature modern production lines with robots that will take part in the manufacture of bicycle wheels.

– The production facility is a new modern hall with 4,150 m2, within which all the operations and functions of the production process will be carried out. Two modern production lines are planned, as well as new machines (robots) for the installation of wheel spokes and the aligning of the wheels. A new, automated line for the painting of bicycle frames, front sets and other bicycle parts is planned as well, rounding out the production process. The capacity of the production will be over 200,000 bicycles a year, primarily meant for the European market – Lazar Cvoro says and adds that 60 new workers will be employed, of which 50 in production alone, in order to meet these goals. The intention is also to augment the export team by hiring technology and mechanical engineers in the foreseeable future.

The modernization of the production process of Planet Bike is a way for this company to be included in the modern systems of bike production, but also new product development, especially when it comes to electric bicycles, which are already conquering the market.

– The main line of development of new products will concern the production of electric bikes, primarily for the EU market. It is well known that this product is experiencing a global boom – Lazar Cvoro concludes his interview with eKapija.
