Regional Association “Let’s Defend the Balkan Rivers” Formed

A regional association called “Let’s Defend the Balkan Rivers” was formed on July 3 in Sarajevo.

The association is joined by environmental and activist movements, organizations and activists from the region (BiH, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia), to the end of joining forces in trying to defend all the rivers in the Balkans, the Center for the Living Environment announced.

One of the goals of the association is for all the works and projects on rivers to be stopped immediately and for laws banning the construction of small hydro power plants to be adopted in a summary procedure in all the countries of the Balkans.

– Rivers know no borders and they’ve connected us. We have gathered to join forces in countering the attacks on our rivers and to act in solidarity – this is a single fight and it is a common fight – pointed out representatives of the movements and the organizations gathered within the association.
