– It will be a wide public discussion and we will carefully calibrate every comma – Nedimovic told Tanjug and added that the public discussion would start in September, October, or November.
Nedimovic said that the amendments to the Water Act needed to be adopted sooner or later, because the field needs to be regulated adequately.
The minister said that he accepted the responsibility for failing to have the public included in the process.
– The thing is that the public was not involved in the whole process. We believed that only a small number of legal regulations would essentially be changed relative to the entire law, so it was done in a summary procedure – Nedimovic said.
He emphasized that no damage was done, that the procedure was to be repeated and that it was human to admit a mistake.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic did not sign the amendments to the Water Act last week and announced that the act would be sent back to the parliament to deliberate on it again. Previously, Vucic said that he would only sign the new regulation if it were in line with the constitution, otherwise not.
