(Zrenjanin)
Industrial zone "Southeast-Ecka" has been opened today in Zrenjanin (July, 21st, 2010), whose building was funded by the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) with EUR 4 million, by the City of Zrenjanin with more than 1 million EUR, while the NIP provided 27 million dinars.
Serbian President Boris Tadic, who opened the industrial zone, said that for the construction of such zones a prerequisite was opening of new enterprises, which means new jobs and livelihoods for individuals and their families.
He pointed out that the stability of economic development and technology development of small and medium-sized enterprises is of great importance, adding that "the networks of such companies provide future stability."
- We are now entering into a new phase when it is necessary to raise exports, because countries with export-oriented economy, unlike Serbia, are getting easier and faster out of the crisis. Therefore, I would suggest to the mayor and municipal authorities to insist on having more companies that are export oriented into this industrial zone - said President Tadic.
Zrenjanin Mayor Mile Mihajlov recalled that the project of building the infrastructure of "Ecka" industrial zone started in 2007 , when the City of Zrenjanin competed at the European Agency for Reconstruction, and the project was rated as favorable.
He added that the contract with the contractor company "Alpine" was signed in 2008, and that the works were completed on time.
- We have here an industrial zone area of 72 hectares, which is completely equipped - said the Mayor of Zrenjanin.
Mihailov said that the city has big ambitions with the zone, because it goes beyond the framework of the city and the region.
EU Delegation Ambassador Vincent Deger pointed out that the industrial zone was very important tool for development, because it brings new technology, production and create jobs.
- We will not stop here, the main infrastructural projects of the total value of EUR 50 million are financed from the funds of the European Community in Serbia. Of course, this will not be easy, but we hope to succeed - he said Deger.
