Grasac Dina brut 2018 from Vinum winery, Sremski Karlovci won the Best of Show award at BIWC

Delicious sparkling wine Grasac Dina brut 2018 won the Best of Show award at The Balkans International Wine Competition (BIWC) held in Skopje. Grasac Dina brut 2018, a masterpiece of the Vinum winery team, is a vibrant and lively wine made with the traditional method. It is filled with notes of honey, brioche and homemade pastries, pollen and citrus notes, firm and very fresh, with small and persistent bubbles.

The Best of Show awards were first given in 2019 with the aim of highlighting wines of the greatest individual importance for the countries and regions whence they come. This year, the winners of the Best of Show awards were announced at a gala dinner marking the end of the jurying, while the winners of trophies, grand trophies and medals will be announced at a ceremony at the start of the Balkan Wine Festival in Sofia on June 17th.

For Albania, The Best of Show award was given to Merlot 2018 from the Belba winery. SM Reserve 2018, a blend of shiraz and marselan and an author's wine by oenologist Snezhana Mutavdzhiyska, took home a medal for Bulgaria. The recognition was also won by the Collection 2018 label, a burgundy blend from the young winery Fazan, located in Bosnia, near Prnjavor, and to Grand Rahova Reserve 2019 by the Orahovac winery Labi, from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. Vranac Stari podrum 2013 from the Montenegrin house Plantaže has also been awarded as The Best of Show. Additionally, awards went to Signature Merlot 2017 of the North Macedonian winery Chateau Kamnik, as well as Prisbus Reserva 2018, burgundy blend from Sibenik winery Baraka, Afoura Assyrtiko 2019 of Anhydrous winery from Santorini, and Issa Saubignon Blanc 2020 of the Romanian house Crama La Salina.
