The president of NLB Group, Blaz Brodnjak, stated for Tanjug that the bank had the capacity and the potential for taking over some other bank in the region, but that it was too soon to talk about it. He added that the most important thing for NLB at that moment was to finalize the integration of NLB with Komercijalna Banka in Serbia.

Brodnjak thereby answered the question whether NLB had plans to take over some other bank in the region, but added that they were considering entering the Albanian market.

– At the moment, we are busy with the integration of the two banks (Komercijalna and NLB Beograd) in Serbia and we are counting on this being finished by the end of April 2022. In the meantime, we are considering a potential entry to the Albanian market, because that would make us the only bank present in all the six markets of the Western Balkans, on a joint path to Europe – Brodnjak said.

That way, NLB Group would be the only one capable of covering and supporting the commercial and financial flows in the entire region, Brodnjak emphasized.

He said that the NLB was sticking with the projection that Komercijalna Banka, integrated with NLB Bank in Serbia, would be able to make a profit of EUR 100 million as soon as 2024.

– I am very satisfied and proud of the way that Serbia has coped with the crisis. In Serbia, the GDP dropped only 1%, which is one of the best results in Europe. So, the crisis has not reflected so much on the results of Komercijalna Banka. We haven’t seen anything that hasn’t already been projected. We are very satisfied with that transaction and we are firmly behind it – Brodnjak emphasized in his statement for Tanjug,

He is convinced that it would be a great investment in the long term and that Komercijalna Banka would become a leading bank.
