Since the beginning of May, a sum of over 100 million Swiss francs has been replaced in banknotes of the eight series, which has been withdrawn from circulation, the National Bank of Serbia announced and provided an additional deadline for the replacement of those banknotes by the end of May.

The NBS recommends to the citizens to replace the banknotes immediately, without waiting for the deadline, because banks need a certain amount of time to hand over the money collected from the citizens to the NBS, due to which they could stop replacing the banknotes before May 31, 2021.

After this date, the citizens will be able to replace Swiss franc banknotes out of circulation at banks and exchange offices still willing to carry out these procedures, as well as at counters or by sending the banknotes by mail to the Swiss National Bank in Bern and Zurich.

After the Swiss National Bank announced on April 28 that it would withdraw the Swiss franc banknotes of the eight series on April 30, the NBS reached the decision, considering the short time period between the announcement and the withdrawal, to provide the citizens with an additional period for the replacement of said banknotes at commercial banks in Serbia.
