PIK Becej plans export worth EUR 4m - 1.5m more than in 2009

- PIK Becej from Becej plans to export 4 million euros worth of agricultural products this year, 1.5 million euros more than in 2009 - said the company's Sales Manager Mihajlo Djukic.

Agricultural-industrial combine (PIK) Becej operates as a part of Irva Investments, of which owner is Djordjije Nicovic.

- We fulfilled over 50% of the export plan during the first six months and we expect that, if we continue that way, the export plan for this year will be exceeded - said Djukic.

The biggest market for PIK Becej's products is Russia - he said and added that the company also exported goods to Hungary, Turkey, Italy, France, the countries of former Yugoslavia, and that the negotiations on export to the countries of the Near East were underway.

PIK Becej's Executive Director Svetlana Gagic reminded that PIK Becej ended the last year with the loss in amount of RSD 800m, but she also said that the indexes for the first six months of 2010 were positive and both sales and export were growing.

According to her, over the last few years PIK Becej has been facing the problems with liquidity, restructuring, and preservation of land fund, which dropped from 12,600 to 8,700 ha of cultivated land.

Ms. Gagic said that the basic reason for the blocked account and the loss in 2009 was the credit debt as a consequence of the loans taken for production maintenance.

- About 5 million euros would be enough for PIK Becej to solve its problems, unblock the account, and start a new production cycle - said she.

PIK Becej is engaged in production in crop farming, pig and cattle breeding, fishery, and it also owns Flora factory for processing fruits and vegetables. It produces corn, wheat, soybean, and it has 56 ha of land under plum, cherry, apricot, nut and hazelnut. This company has 1,550 employees.
