Tri-stan Fresh Produce started construction of EUR 2m worth of new production unit in Svilajnac

The foundation stone for a production unit of Dutch-Swiss company Tri-stan Fresh Produce was laid yesterday (June 29, 2010) in Industrial zone in Svilajnac. This company operates in the municipality of Svilajnac since last year and it has, so far, produced 70 tonnes of pickles and processed 290 tonnes of cucumbers it bought from its collaborators.

- The production hall will occupy the surface of 1,700 square meters. Products will be offered to both domestic and foreign markets. The investment is worth 2 million euros - says Plasid Mašut, one of the co-owners of Tri-stan Fresh Produce.

The Faculty of Agriculture was also opened yesterday in Svilajnac. It will be educating 100 students per year in organic food production. Enrollment is underway.
