Ruma-Sabac Highway by October 2023, Sabac-Loznica Fast Route by 2024

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has visited the works on the new bridge on the Sava near the village of Macvanski Pricinovic, the future Ruma-Sabac highway and the Sabac-Loznica fast route.

The president got a promise from the contractor that the highway from Ruma to Sabac would be completed by the end of September or the beginning of October 2023 and that that fast route from Sabac to Loznica would be completed by the end of October 2024.

This road infrastructure will feature 28 poles and be slightly over 1.3 kilometers long. The entire route from Ruma to Loznica will be 77 kilometers long and be very important for the development of that area’s economy.

The contracted price of the works is EUR 467.5 million, and the contractor is the Azerbaijani company Azvirt, with local subcontractors.

The highway from Novi Sad through Fruska Gora to Ruma, of 45.4 kilometers, will connect to this traffic route, so the biggest city in Vojvodina will have the fastest road connection with western Serbia and Republika Srpska, that is, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ruma-Sabac-Loznica route of 77 km, along with the Fruska Gora Corridor, will be a new route of a total of 122.4 km of new road infrastructure. A trip down the new corridor from Belgrade to Sabac will take no more than 40 minutes, and to Loznica, an hour and 15 minutes.
