ĆERAMILAC: Multiple importance of SNC Lavalin's investment in RTB Bor
The project for construction of new copper smelter and sulfuric acid factory in Bor, which will be implemented by SNC Lavalin in association with the Serbian Government and Mining Smelter Basin (RTB) Bor, is only the first in the series of investments of that Canadian company in our country - Đurđa Ćeramilac, the Director of the Trading Department in the Embassy of Canada to Belgrade.
She pointed out that the Embassy of Canada was extremely proud of that project and said it was the biggest investment made by a Canadian company in our region.
- The new unit in Bor will have multiple effects on the growth of production, funds and employment rate, while the construction of new units will put an end to a horrible ecological problem of this region - said our interlocutor.
As she pointed out, the negotiations were extremely difficult, but they were very constructive as well. Both sides did their best to find the best solutions, while Canadian side emphasized that it had been pleasantly surprised during the negotiation period with how expert some employees of RTB Bor were.
Ms. Ćeramilac also pointed to very important role of Serbian Economy Minister Mlađan Dinkić who was the initiator of many ideas and helped in finding the best solution for both sides.
Speaking of the absolutely first-class technology that will be installed in Bor, our interlocutor does not hide satisfaction with the fact that Finnish company Outokumpu is a part of the project, which guarantees that standards, high quality and deadlines will be respected.
Let us remind that Mlađan Dinkić said when the contract was signed that the works on construction of new smelter would commence on July 1st, while the completion of construction was expected in 36 months.
