For a long number of years, Indjija has been one of the most successful local self-governments when it comes to attracting investors and creating a good business environment, and among the numerous foreign companies from all corners of the world, there are also local business people who are opening their new facilities here.

One such company is Agromarket, headquartered in Kragujevac, which has been supplying the local market with secondary raw materials for crop, vegetable and fruit growing, as well as gardening.

Fifteen years ago, this company started producing modern mineral fertilizers for plant feeding through leaves and for drop-by-drop irrigation systems at its Fertico factory in Nis.

Last month, the factory was moved to Indjija, next to the existing Agromarket distribution center and a test run has now begun at that facility. These days, the facility is to officially open, marking the 30th anniversary of the parent company, Agromarket, and the 15th anniversary of Fertico.

– Our aim is to implement new technologies in plant feeding in Serbia, in local agriculturists. We currently cover 30% of the local market with this type of goods, but we plan to have an even bigger market share in the future. The company is also export-oriented, and most of the exports go to Italy, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Armenia and Lebanon – explains Tanja Mijatovic, a representative of Fertico.

She adds that the existing production equipment is planned so as to enable a considerable increase in the scope of the production over the next five years, without additional investments in the expansion of the facility.

In fact, Agromarket has moved the production of liquid and soluble fertilizers under the Fertico brand from Nis to Indjija and invested EUR 6.5 million. Nearly all the employees have also been transferred from the old to the new facility, Mijatovic says.

– At the moment, there are 30 employees here, 10 of which are new workers, mostly employed through the “My First Salary” program of the Government of Serbia. We hope that, with the expansion of the production, the number of the employees will double. Whoever of these new workers does well is welcome to the company and can count on permanent employment – Tanja Mijatovic.
