The Serbian Minister of European Integration and Coordinator of International Developmental Aid, Jadranka Joksimovic, signed the amendments to the agreements whereby the United States had set aside USD 22 million in non-refundable aid to Serbia this Wednesday, February 3.

As the ministry announced, Joksimovic signed Amendment 14 to the Aid Agreement between Serbia and the USA on improving the functioning of the public administration and Amendment 16 to the Aid Agreement between Serbia and the USA on more competitive market economy, worth a total of USD 22 million.

Joksimovic says that the aid will be realized in the upcoming period and that it is another proof of the continuous improvement of the political relations and development partnership with the USA, which has intensified its developmental cooperation with Serbia in the conditions of the global economic crisis caused by the pandemic.

She points out that the USA is one of the most important developmental partners of Serbia and reminds of the projects carried out by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in cooperation with the institutions of the Government of Serbia.

She also adds that the USA is one of the most important partners to the non-governmental sector as well, which is enabled, through the USAID, to realize important projects, primarily in the field of economy, in the sector of micro, small and medium enterprises, such as the support to female entrepreneurship in the form of access to new, alternative investment sources, the boosting of the manufacturing industry in the sectors of fruit and vegetables and an increase in the sale of local products in the local and the international markets.

In addition to supporting the economy, a substantial part of the funds will be directed at the realization of projects of support to the reform of the judiciary and an increase in the efficiency of the court system, the improvement of the regulatory framework in the domain of the media, as well as the strengthening of the capacities of the relevant bodies for the implementation of media reforms.
