Frank Aletter New CEO of German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce

The Managing Board of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Srbija) has appointed Frank Aletter the CEO and the executive member of the Managing Board of AHK Srbija from February 1, 2021, AHK Srbija announced.

Frank Aletter succeeds Martin Knapp, who was AHK Srbija CEO for five years, since the official founding of the chamber.

German investors, which were then represented by the Delegation of German Economy in Serbia and the German-Serbian Economic Association, and which are now represented by AHK Srbija, celebrate their 20th anniversary in Serbia this year.

As said in the press release, Frank Aletter has over ten years of experience in various positions within the system of German foreign trade and industrial chambers, with over 140 offices in 92 countries. Before assuming his duty in Serbia, he was the Deputy CEO of the South African-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK South Africa) from 2008, where his focus was on the sector for development of operations and advising German and European companies about the possibilities and strategies of entering the market of the Republic of South Africa.

In his business career, Frank was also the Deputy CEO of the Dutch-German Chamber of Commerce and the head of the Coordination Sector of AHK foreign offices at the German Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Berlin.

He earned his Master of Laws degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, specializing in commercial law.

– It is my great pleasure to be able to begin a new phase in my professional career in Serbia, where the office of German foreign trade and industrial chambers (AHK) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and our chamber is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its official founding in April – Aletter said.

– The long tradition and the sustainable operations make us a stable partner for Serbia, and the focus has been and remains the improvement of bilateral economic relations of Serbia and Germany. I am glad that I’ve been given the opportunity to transfer my knowledge and experience from the previous positions and to contribute to the future operations and activities of the chamber, which will primarily be directed at advisory and institutional support, close cooperation with partner organizations, such as the German Embassy in Serbia, the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, bilateral chambers in Serbia, German foundations and others, and a range of informative and networking events to the end of achieving the optimal degree of information, education and the overcoming of business obstacles and difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic – Aletter emphasized and added that, despite the economic consequences of the pandemic, the projections for 2021 are optimistic.


The CEO of AHK Srbija also says that many companies are considering coming to Serbia within the nearshoring strategy, in which they will certainly receive support from the chamber, also through the project “German Initiative for Finding Suppliers in the Countries of the Western Balkans”, whose seventh edition is scheduled for 2021.
