The president of the organization, Rodoljub Zivadinovic, says for Tanjug that the acacia honey, which was exported to Italy at the price of 800 dinars per kilogram, is of the highest quality, that it contains 43% acacia (block locust) pollen, and that the legal minimum is 20%.
He also says that SPOS has recently implemented the halal standard and that they plan exports to many markets in the world, including China.
Zivadinovic says that there are currently negotiations with China, which imports quality honey, despite also being a big exporter of honey.
Acacia honey comprises more than a half of Serbian honey yields
He says that acacia honey makes up more than a half of Serbian honey yields.
The past season, he says, was bad and the yields dropped by 80% compared to the average values, and what is now being exported is the stock from 2019.
– There are low quantities of honey left over, and we are now exporting them. As soon as the season starts, we expect things to improve. The biggest market for us is the EU, and we are also preparing for the Arab market – Zivadinovic said.
