FEST Most Probably to Take Place from April 2-11

The International Film Festival FEST is most probably to take place from April 2 to 11. The City Secretary for Culture, Ivan Karl, says for Tanjug that the festival in Berlin has been moved to March, that the Oscars ceremony has been moved to April, Cannes to June, and so FEST is being moved too, for the same reasons.

– The positive effects of the vaccination, which is well on its way in Serbia, and which should be carried out on an even more massive scale in February and March here and abroad, should be felt by April, which is another argument in favor of moving the date. With more beautiful weather, ahead of the coming of the spring and, as we are all hoping, much fewer cases of infection and a relaxation of the measures, I believe that the audience will be able to feel the festival atmosphere much more comfortably – Karl says.

He adds that the plan is for the FEST program to take place in smaller theaters, but with a bigger capacity and with a maximum number of screenings, morning to late night, so as to fully utilize the number of seats allowed at that moment.

– There will be enough films, and the selected program I’ve had insight into seems surprisingly good given what the year behind us looked like in terms of cinematography too – Karl concludes.

The Secretariat for Culture opened the regular annual contest on Monday. Applications may be sent by March 1. This year’s FEST will not feature world-famous stars.

October Salon scheduled for autumn

– We have decided to organize the October Salon edition planned for 2020 this autumn and then to have the next salon in 2022 already, so that we would go back to the standard schedule, which entails the organization of this event each even year, in 2024 – Karl says and notes that the October Salon will be held in the 25. maj Museum this year.
