Privatization of Water Management Companies from Banat Next Year

There are potential buyers interested in the four water management companies that operate in Zrenjanin, Pancevo, Kovin and Vrsac, and their privatization can be expected next year, the Ministry of Economy responded to Tanjug’s questions.

These are Vodoprivredno privredno društvo Srednji Banat doo Zrenjanin, Vodoprivredno društvo Tamiš Dunav doo Pančevo, Vodoprivredno privredno društvo Podunavlje doo Kovin and Vodoprivredno privredno društvo Južni Banat Vršac.

At the public invitation of the ministry, letters of interest were sent for all four, but it hasn’t been specified how many parties interested in the purchase of these water management companies there are.

– At the moment, we can say that there’s an interest in privatizing all these companies – it is said in a brief statement.

The Ministry of Economy noted that the letters of interest were non-binding and that subjects that hadn’t sent a letter during the public call would also be able to take part in the privatization process.

– Further activities toward the privatization process and the opening of public calls for the sale will depend on the decisions of the Government of Serbia about the model and the method of the privatization, which is expected during 2021 – the press release adds.

According to the data published on the website of the ministry, the total value of the capital of these four water management companies, as of December 31, 2019, was nearly RSD 412 million.

The most valuable one is Srednji Banat from Zrenjanin, at slightly over RSD 143 million, whereas the lowest capital value has been estimated at Podunavlje from Kovin, at slightly over RSD 83 million.
