On one hand, the festival will be dedicated to modern Italian film, with six new productions, while on the other hand, it will explore the history of Italian cinematography, which is celebrating 100 years from the birth of the famous Alberto Sordi. In memory of this famous actor and director from Rome, a large retrospective of films starring him will be screened between October 21 and 25. An exhibition of photographs dedicated to highlights from his extraordinarily long career will also be organized.
The festival opens on Saturday, October 17, at 7 pm, at the Yugoslav Film Archive building at 1 Uzun Mirkova Street, with said photo exhibit and a screening of Permette? Alberto Sordi, a biographical TV movie showing twenty years of the famous actor's career, from the very beginnings to the great fame. Sordi is excellently portrayed by Edoardo Pesce, who will attend the opening of the festival, as will the director, Luca Manfredi, and one of the producers, Sergio Giussani.
During the festival, the following films will be screened: Pinocchio, by Matteo Garrone, which received 15 nominations in the 2020 edition of the David di Donatello Awards, winning five; Cinque e il numero perfetto, by Igor Tuveri (aka Igort); Mio fratello rincorre i dinosauri, by Stefano Cipani; A Tor Bella Monaca non piove mai, by Marco Bocci; E per il tuo bene, by Rolando Ravello; and Waiting for the Barbarians, by Ciro Guerra.
