Alltech Fermin in Senta, which sells yeast and yeast-based products in 11 countries, plans to start exporting its products to the markets of Germany, France and Belarus in 2010. The company's aim is to produce 18,700 tons of fresh baking yeast this year in order to sell it in domestic and foreign markets.

- This year we want to increase export of fresh basking yeast by 20%. We are on good way to realize that because we will start exporting products to Germany and France where our products have not been present so far. These days we are also getting ready for regular export to Greece - Tomislav Bakalić, the Sales and Logistics Manager in Alltech Fermin, told eKapija.

Signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Belarus made it possible for the Senta-based company, which exports 60% of production, to start selling its products in that market as well.

- Export of first quantities of dry active yeast to Belarus will start in about 30 days. The Free Trade Agreement makes it possible for us to be equal in that market, which was not possible before due to high protective duties – said Bakalić.

Alltech Fermin has started the trial production of yeast extract in the new unit, which will increase the annual capacity of yeast extract production from 660 to 4,000 tons.

- The first quantities of yeast extract should be dispatched soon to our partner from Japan with which we signed the contract on ten years – the Sales Manager in Alltech Fermin announced.

He pointed out that the company had invested about 25m EUR in 2009, 9m EUR of which in construction of the waste water treatment unit and the rest in construction of the yeast unit and the process water treatment unit.

Social utility for Alltech Fermin

Business web portal eKapija granted special award for social utility - 2010 Aurea to Alltech Fermin from Senta for construction of the waste water treatment unit. What makes the Senta-based unit specific is the combined production of heating and electric energy for industrial facility from biogas.

- The waste water treatment unit should be in full operation at the end of this year and then the production of electric energy for the needs of the unit and the factory will commence. That is when we expect the real economic effects from this unit, but I am not able to specify the amount at the moment – says Bakalić.

The process water treatment unit in factory Alltech Fermin will be put in operation soon and, according to Bakalić, the construction of that unit was one of the preconditions for the company to sign the contract with the Japanese buyer.

- This unit should ensure the quality of water that meets all global standards, so that we will be able to export our products to all markets. The process water treatment unit is now in trial and it will be put in function in one month – said Bakalić.
