Research has shown that cat owners are less likely to die of a heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases than those who have never had a cat.
This is the result of the analysis of data on 4,500 men and women between 30 and 75 years of age who took part in a national health and food study conducted in Oregon.
No one had cardiovascular diseases at the beginning of the study, and as many as 55% confirmed that they had a cat or that they had owned a cat at some point.
Compared to them, people who have never had a cat are at around 40% more risk of getting a heart diseases. It is important to point out that the researchers took into account other risk factors, including age, gender, race, blood pressure and smoking, Petmagazine.rs reports.
