On Friday, September 25, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic took part in a webinar dedicated to promoting the Industrial Park Mihajlo Pupin in Belgrade and estimated that the project would open doors to local and foreign experts from the ICT industry and innovative startups.

Brnabic said that the project, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) and the Chinese construction company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), “is another link in the chain” of the friendship between Serbia and China, the Government of Serbia says in a press release.

– We have recognized CRBC as a partner that is reliable, fast and efficient and that we can rely on, which is why we are proud – the prime minister pointed out and added that it was extremely important that the opening of the industrial park will contribute to transformation of the Serbian economy, modernization and, above all, the staying of young professionals in the country.

The conference was also attended by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia Chen Bo, Minister without portfolio in charge of innovation and technological development Nenad Popovic, representatives of CRBC, representative of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Mihajlo Vesovic as well as the representative of the Development Agency Rados Gazdic.

Project worth EUR 300 million

Let us remind that the project of the Serbian-Chinese Industrial Park Mihajlo Pupin will be built in the northeastern part of Belgrade, on the right bank of the Danube, in the Borca neighborhood.

It will be located near the Pupin Bridge, where the main road connected with the bridge enable quick transport to the airport, the boat cargo terminal on the Danube, the railway station and the intercity highway network.

It will be an all-encompassing park, on 320 hectares. In addition to the industrial park, the area will also feature a high-tech park and an international trade center.

In line with the feasibility study, the park will directly and indirectly create around 25,000 jobs, attract around 3,000 companies, including high-tech companies, and consequently contribute to the growth of the GDP of the Republic of Serbia, as said on the website of the Cabinet of the Minister for Innovations and Development.

By signing a memorandum of interest, more than 40 large Chinese companies expressed their desire to establish operations in this park. The preliminary value of the project is around EUR 300 million.

Let us remind that the beginning of the construction of the park, announced for March 2020, was moved due to the coronavirus pandemic.
