Bambi Farm in Ruma Combining the Traditional with the Modern – Number of Tourists in Srem Increasing

October 1 is the deadline for application for funds from the European Union's IPARD 7 program, which entails a help of EUR 20 million for the development of village tourism. The measure is available to natural persons, entrepreneurs, micro and small enterprises which can make a return of up to 65% of the investment and thereby realize a support of 5,000 to 300,000 euros per project.

Aleksandar Jaglic, together with his wife, has revived the Ethno Farm in Ruma. In the past years, they have been providing their guests with a pleasant environment and the highly demanded true Srem cuisine. Aleksandar says that the guest mostly ask for ham, pork cracklings, various stews and, in general, everything associated with the traditional Srem cuisine.

The only thing missing from the Ethno Farm are overnight stay capacities, but they are to be established.

– We are expanding with time. A lot of people want to spend a night here, to spend two to three days here – Aleksandar says.

The Jaglic family have not yet used any help for their business. They've done everything using their own resources, and they claim that the IPARD measure 7, meant for development of rural tourism, is very good, so they are considering applying, in order to make a return on the investments they've made in the farm.

– It is a very good thing, so I hope that I will be able to apply soon, because we can meet all the requirements – Jaglic says.

Due to the coronavirus situation, they've had almost no guests, so they are currently arranging the farm to resemble those from the old times. It's all done with taste and the combination of the traditional and the modern never fails to impress, so it is to be expected that, once the health situation changes, the Bambi Farm will once again become a significant meeting point for tourists from all over Serbia, but also from the neighboring countries, who always gladly visit Srem.
