Pranjani Violin Festival on August 15 Without an Audience – Serbian Violin Capital to be Connected by Air Route Next Year

The second Pranjani Violin Fest will symbolically open on August 15, at 6 pm, in the eponymous village, halfway between Takovo and Gornja Dobrinja.

– The festival flags will be raised this year as well, but, unfortunately, the competition, which gathered around 50,000 guests last year, will not be held. However, we are not giving up. A summer stage and a pedestal have been raised in the village center in honor of the violin players who will gather here every year to compete – said the president of the Festival Board, Dejan Kovacevic.

The sculpture was created by academic sculptor Bojan Grujic, whose works have been recognized throughout Europe. Two years ago, he represented Serbia at the World Youth Forum in Egypt. The wooden statue is 2.65 meters tall.

On Saturday, August 15, the Festival's anthem, the “Svilen Konac” composition, will be performed at the village center. The program is reduced to a minimum and complies with all the safety rules due to the coronavirus pandemic.

– The first violin of Serbia, Momir Jovanovic, and an extraordinary artist, Branko Ristic, who teaches violin at a prestigious UK university, will perform at the summer stage. Two songs, which have in a way gained the status of anthems in the meantime, will be performed by Nemanja Kujundzic and Aleksandra Ristanovic. The short twenty-minute program will be closed by a traditional circle dance, in compliance with all the personal distance measures, performed by the FRA Ensemble. The dancers will hold unwrapped belts, ensuring a distance of nearly two meters – says the author of the festival, Gvozden Nikolic.

The organizers say that this year's festival will take place without an audience.

– The Pranjani Violin Festival quickly became very popular, gathering over 50,000 guests in the first year alone. The event also initiated a whole range of activities in the Suvobor area. Next year, Pranjani will be connected by an air route, as the Gorski Airport is being built only a few kilometers away from the festival site.

The airport with a heliport will be operational from September 19, 2020, and it will be able to accommodate aircraft with up to eight seats.
